Happy New Year

Happy New Year!! What a roller coaster of a ride we have been having with the weather so far this year. One day it is raining, one day it is snowing, one day the temperature is at -4 and one day the temperature is at 55. When will the ride end.

Putting the weather aside, I would like to personally say thank you to everyone that participated in our three annual charity events last year. In the spring, we had Operation Smile in which we raised $240 to repair a smile for one child. In the fall we held our annual Halloween Food Drive in which we delivered 8 bags of grocery to the Soup Kitchen and we also had our annual Toys for Tot Drive that collected over 20 toys. From the bottom of my heart, Thank you!!!

As we begin a new chapter in our lives, may we do better, give more, love more, worry less and celebrate all the beauties of life.  I hope that your year will be full of happiness and prosperity!

I am looking forward to continuing our relationship in the coming year.

One of the most important photographs you'll ever have taken is a family portrait. I know that you are going to tell me that you don't have the time. I understand. I have two kids in two different schools and run my own business. We are all going in twenty different directions every day with work, school, the kids, their sport activities, and whatever else we try to fit in.

Take a moment and capture a lifetime. Before time passes before your eyes and you wonder where those years went. Now would be the perfect time to get that family portrait done with the beautiful colors of Fall. A beautifully designed outdoor family portrait makes a fine wall decor.

Choose from one of the following days and receive the photographic session with an 8x10 and 2-5x7's for $145.

Monday-October 14th
Saturday-October 19th

Happy Anniversary

Can you believe it that 24 years ago today, Uniquely Yours Photography was born.

So many things have changed in the photography industry since I opened my doors but one thing that has always stayed the same are my wonderful clients. I am truly blessed to work with and know so many wonderful and loving families. I am so grateful to you for letting me part of your family to watch your children grow up. This year, I had the pleasure to photograph one of my girlfriend's daughter's wedding. The above photographs are of my cousins' daughters that I photographed. The one on the left is them at the age of 4 and the one on the right was taken at their senior portrait session. I just cannot believe how many of my children that have come through my doors are growing up and becoming little adults.

I personally would like to take this opportunity to say "THANK YOU" to all of you for your continuous support for the last 24 years. I am so thankful for your ongoing faith in me to create a piece of art of your child/children or family and your trust in me to record and capture these special times in your lives. As a token of appreciation, have your portrait taken in the month of July and receive our Anniversary Special of 24% off your photographic order.

With summer here and the weather warming up, it's one of the most beautiful and visually exciting environments for photographing people, portraying the warmth and special bond between your family. Capture and preserve the love, affection and expressions that are uniquely your family.

Take this opportunity to capture this special time in your family's history. Plan NOW for Holiday Cards and Gifts. Call today for an appointment, spaces are limited.

Chili Cook Off

Who likes chili?

Well if you are free on Saturday, I will be showcasing my pet portraits at the 1st Annual Animal Rescue Foundation ISC Sanctioned Chili Cook Off. Come out to see me and support the Animal Rescue Foundation and The Woodbury Police D.A.R.E. Program. It will be held at Hollow Park in Woodbury on Saturday-June 22nd from 11am to 4pm. Admission is $7. Hope to see you there.

We thought you would want to know about a very special promotion we will be participating in with an elite group of photographers from around the country.  On April 13, 2013 we will host “Celebration of Smiles Day” a wonderful opportunity for you to update individual portraits of your family members and at the same time support the work of Operation Smile, which treats children around the world who suffer with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

Along with other participating members of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), we have pledged to donate 100% of each $24 donation made to PPA Charities, which has chosen Operation Smile as its charitable partner.

Recording the smiles of children and their families is our greatest pleasure. That’s why we believe so strongly in the work of Operation Smile. Each year this incredible organization of more than 5,000 volunteer doctors, nurses, dentists, and specialized health care professionals, perform free reconstructive surgeries for children suffering with cleft lips, cleft palates and other facial deformities.

Every three minutes a child somewhere in the world is born with a facial deformity. One in ten will not survive to see their first birthday. Those who do survive often live in isolation and pain. More than 100,000 children are born with a facial deformity each year in Operation Smile’s 26 partner countries.

We hope you will join with us in helping to make this vital work possible.  As always . . . we look forward to creating some truly wonderful portraits of you or your family members.

See you all on the 13th!!!!

Connecticut Professional Photographers Annual Convention

This past weekend, the Connecticut Professional Photographer Association held their 64th Convention at the Hartford/Windsor Marriot.  I got to study with Colby Brown from Denver, Vanessa Joy and Rob Adams from New Jeresy, Clay Blackmore from Maryland and Larry Peters from Ohio. I learned so much from them all. My head is still spinning from all the information. I also entered prints into our annual print competition at the Connecticut Professional Photographers Association Convention. I received 4 Blue Ribbons, 1 Red Ribbon, 2 Judges Award Ribbon, the Reuben Schaller Award for Best Portrait of a Child and the Roland Laramie PPA Certified Award for the highest scoring print. What a great convention. Congrats to all the other winners and everyone that entered the print competition. Still on cloud 9.

Blizzard of 2013

I just wanted to share some photographs that I took from the blizzard of 2013 here in Connecticut. It was amazing how much snow we had. I still remember the Blizzard of   '78 where we didn't go to school for a week and the snow was as tall as me. And now the snow is as tall as my daughter. The roads are such a mess. There is no place to put the snow. When we looked out on Saturday morning we could not even see the street at all. My neighbor swam her way over to our house over the snow. Enjoy.
