What an exciting weekend I had this past weekend. The Connecticut Professional Photographers Association held their 68th Annual Convention and what a convention it was. We had some awesome speakers that I had the privileged of meeting and learning from. Some of the topics that were talked about are creating work in small spaces, redefining who you are as a photographer, drawing personality and capturing character in portraits, mastering posing to flatter everyone and cinematic headshots. Plus the hospitality and be able to reconnect with old friends and make new friends. The weekend ended with the annual Awards Reception in which I received four awards.I  was the recipient of the Portrait Photographer of the Year Award for the most points accumulated during the year from print competition for the third year in a row. For the fourth year in a row, I received the prestigious PPA Certified Professional Photographer Award, which is given to the highest scoring print by a certified professional photographer at the recently held Connecticut Professional Photographers Association (CTPPA) convention in Cromwell. The award was given to me for my fine art portrait titled, “WE ARE FAMILY”.  I also received the Gerri Karamesinis Award(for use of props in a photograph) for my fine art portrait titled “WE ARE FAMILY” and the Portrait Court of Honor for her fine art portrait titled, “SWETT LITTLE ALANIA”. More than 100 prints were submitted for anonymous judging by a visiting panel comprised of professional photographers from different states who have achieved the Master Photographer designation. Here are the two images that won awards at CTPPA Convention.
